LINCOLN–(NWU Athletics Sept. 23)-– Nebraska Wesleyan senior quarterback Jonathan Curti has been named the American Rivers Conference Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week for week three of the football season.

Curti (Colorado Springs, Colo.) passed for a season-high 441 yards in the Prairie Wolves 37-16 comeback victory at Buena Vista in the American Rivers opener last Saturday.  His 441 passing yards are the second most in a single game in NWU school history, only behind his school record 461 yards back in 2017.  It is the 4th best single season passing total in NCAA III this season.

He finished the game 28-52 passing with four touchdowns and zero interceptions.  Curti threw three touchdowns in the second half when NWU scored 30 points.

This season, Curti has passed for 1,029 yards in three games to rank 7th in NCAA III in yards per game.  His 14 touchdown passes are tied for 2nd among all NCAA III quarterbacks, and he has only one interception.

Curti continues to add to his school record passing total at 6,780 career yards.  Last week, he became the school record holder in total offense at 6,852 yards passing Mark Peterson who played from 1982-84.  He climbed closer to Peterson’s career TD record of 69 TD passes now having thrown 67 passes.

His player of the week honor in 2019 marks the second of his career as he also was conference offensive player of week in 2017.

Nebraska Wesleyan is off to a 3-0 start to the season, their best start since 2006.  The Prairie Wolves have a bye this Saturday and will be back in action on Oct. 5 when they host Simpson College for Homecoming.
