LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 1)–Class A fifth-ranked and No. 2 seeded Lincoln Southeast football team got a boost on their ground game from senior running back Nick Halleen, in a 35-10 victory over Omaha North Friday night in the Class A playoff opener at Seacrest Field, which was also carried on KFOR FM103.3/1240AM.

The Knights (9-1) now host Omaha Westside, who beat Creighton Prep in the opener, in next Friday’s showdown.  Southeast rallied back to defeat Westside 22-17 in September.

Halleen ran for 127 yards, carried the ball 34 times and score three touchdowns for Southeast.  He scored on a 1-yard run to cap an eight-play, 69-yard drive on the Knights’ first possession.

North got on the scoreboard off a Frank Maya 33-yard field goal to trail 7-3.

Southeast then got big gains of 34-yards from Halleen, which later was capped on a 21-yard touchdown by Isaac Gifford.  Halleen then caught a 31-yard shovel pass which was capped on a 4-yard run from Halleen and Southeast led 21-3 at halftime.

But North responded to start the second half and got a 32-yard touchdown pass from Darius Hagen to Keshaun Williams.  However,  Southeast responded quickly and got a 36-yard touchdown pass from Coleby Daffer to Appleget with 5:18,  left in the third.

Halleen scored the final touchdown of the game, a 2-yard route, to seal the win.

Southeast had 257 yards of total offense, 249 of which were done on the ground.
